Year Three
Welcome to the Year 3 class page.
Mr Handley and Miss Timmis are currently the Year 3 class teachers.
In Year 3 we are positive, enthusiastic and have a real love of learning. We are ready to use our creative minds to tackle the Year 3 curriculum. Our day is filled with engaging, exciting, and creative lessons. We are eager to learn and are excited to now be part of Key Stage 2.
We start the day with our English lessons which consistent of spelling, reading and writing. Children will recap and learn new spellings every day. Our reading sessions will help the children read fluently and will give them an understanding behind the text, we often use the term EARS within our reading lessons. We use a wide selection of texts throughout the year to keep the children captivated and eager to learn. During writing the children are given the chance to be creative and expressive within their work, our lessons run smoothly and we work towards our final pieces called big writes.
Following on from this we go into our Maths lessons, where we complete daily arithmetic before going on to our White Rose Maths. This is where the children can recap on previous lessons and are introduced to new learning.
Our afternoons consist of Spanish, PE, Religion and worldviews, History, Geography, and Science at the start of the week. And we finish the week with Art, Music, PSHE and Design Technology.
Wednesday and Thursday are PE day. All children are required to come to school in full PE kit.
Going the extra mile for success
All home support is hugely appreciated and makes a positive impact on your child's learning opportunities. Please support your child by ensuring they read at least 5 times a week, with 5-10 pages per night and signing this in their diary. Please bring diaries/books into school daily and use diaries to communicate with me throughout the week.
Homework will be set each Friday on Spelling Shed and TT Rockstars. Paper copies are available but we do encourage the use of the apps we provide.
This year, we are continuing with the 'Walk to School' scheme, where children receive badges for taking part and increasing their fitness. If you have to drive your child to school, they can still achieve an active badge by parking at the shops and walking the remaining distance.
If you have any questions about your child’s learning, please contact via Class Dojo.
